The large intestine is the general name of the last 1, 5-2 meter section of our digestive system that ends with anus. Last 15 cm. The lik section is called rectum and the remaining part is called a column.
Many progress has been made in the diagnosis and treatment of large intestinal cancers over the past decade. Despite this, large intestinal cancers are still one of the most important health problems worldwide and continue to threaten the lives of millions of people every year.
Diagnostic Methods
In addition to the examination, colonoscopy and biopsy are sufficient for the diagnosis of colon cancer. However, in order to decide on the form of treatment, the degree of spread of the disease must be determined. For this purpose, tetrics such as tomography, ultrasound, endo ultrasound, MR and PET can be consulted.
Treatment Methods
The main treatment method of thick bowel cancer is surgery. However, some patients may receive chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy before or after surgery.
What is the Purpose of Treatment in Colon Cancer Patients?
It is the complete treatment of the disease or, if this is not possible, the extension of life. Thanks to the advances in diagnosis and treatment, especially in the last 10 years, patients with large intestinal cancer have opened a long and quality way of life.
